HONDA has announced three new joint ventures worth £63 million with Unipart to manufacture components and accessories in the UK.

Pressed steel body components and sunroof assemblies will be manufactured from mid-1997 in a new £35 million factory in Coventry by Unipart Yachiyo Technology; exhaust systems, catalytic converters and pressed chassis components will be produced at Premier Exhausts' existing Coventry factory by Unipart Yutaka Systems and manual transmission gearbox components will be produced at Unipart's existing Paddock Wood site in Kent.

All three joint ventures will supply Honda's car and engine plant in Swindon where the four-door Accord and five-door Civic are built.
