Small fleets flock to RAC's new service

THE RAC is attracting new business volumes from the smaller end of the fleet sector after the launch of its dedicated rapid response. In the last eight weeks, the breakdown and recovery organisation has signed up more than 750 small fleets of under 250 vehicles - a 31% increase on the same period last year.

Calls to the RAC's Business Services Centre have risen by 30% since the 0800 numbers went live, against an overall increase in fleet activity of 8%. But despite the increase in volumes, the RAC achieved record response times in the year to May when it attended 125,857 fleet vehicle breakdowns with an average wait for the driver of 37.08 minutes - a record low - achieved in May. The RAC's freephone hotline for small fleets is 0800 246892.
