Clockers find it harder to sell cars after campaign

CLOCKERS are finding it increasingly hard to sell the cars they have tampered with to dealers, according to Experian and Vehicle Mileage Check. Research shows that dealers who check the mileages of cars they are offered with VMC, which is available through Experian's VIN-based Car Data Check, have seen a 40% drop in the number of clocked vehicles they are faced with.

Experian's director of automotive services Steve Kilmister said: 'When word gets around that a dealer checks the mileage with VMC, clockers take fright and try to sell their cars elsewhere. Our research shows that our campaign is having a dramatic effect, to the benefit of dealers up and down the country.'
