DAEWOO has taken another step in its ambitious drive to win the heart of the fleet market with a three-day ride and drive event at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire. Hundreds of fleet decision makers were able to drive the South Korean manufacturer's three new models - the Lanos, Nubira and Leganza - which were due to go on sale in the UK today.

The event was the latest in a programme of events aimed at wooing potential fleet customers. Earlier marketing moves included taking nearly 100 British fleet industry personnel on a trip to Korea for a pre-launch preview of the models this summer.

Daewoo's hope is that, although some fleet managers may still turn their noses up at the idea of buying a Daewoo, once they get inside the cars they will be won over by the models' high specification, low prices and three-year back-up package. Daewoo Cars deputy managing director S K Kim said vehicle workshops in which potential customers were shown the cars unbadged, alongside unidentified models from other manufacturers, had already proved very successful.
