DAIHATSU has launched liquid petroleum gas Hijet van and pickup models, in a move which looks set to herald the arrival of LPG versions of the Move and Cuore city cars. The monofuel Hijets, with retail prices of £7,400 for the pickup and £7,600 for the van, are currently being produced at a rate of seven a week and demonstrators are now available from Daihatsu's 11 corporate dealerships around the country.

Models will also be on show at the Fleet Motor Show at Donington Park, East Midlands, from 11 to 14 May. Daihatsu national corporate sales manager Richard Sweatt said the LPG versions cost around £1,000 more than the conventionally-fuelled models. Move and Cuore models are understood to be next in line for LPG conversions.
