New Maverick's UK debut

FORD exhibited its new Maverick SUV at the show ahead of its May 2001 UK launch. The 4x4 is now on sale in the US as the Ford Escape, and will be available in Europe just before its UK launch.

With a choice of two petrol engines - a 2.0-litre with five-speed manual or a 3.0 V6 with a four-speed automatic - the Maverick is part of a joint venture with Mazda, and UK vehicles will be built at Mazda's Hofu plant in Japan.
