PEUGEOT is to launch its 206-based van at the Commercial Vehicle Show on March 28 at the NEC, Birmingham - six months later than originally planned. Worldwide success of the 206 supermini itself has been blamed for delaying the van's production at Ryton, Coventry. Prices will be announced at the show, although it is expected to be offered from less than £8,000.

At launch the three-door 206 van will have a normally-aspirated, non-common-rail 1.9-litre diesel engine. No timescale has been given for the introduction of the HDi diesel unit which has been gradually installed across the PSA's Citroen and Peugeot car ranges since its arrival at the end of 1998. The Peugeot Boxer light van is next in line for HDi in March.
