TWO of the UK's best-known fleet consultants have launched a new firm to provide company car-style peace of mind to professional owner-drivers.

Fleet 21 is the brain-child of George Emmerson and Jackie Pomfrett, who between them have more than 40 years' experience in the vehicle management industry.

The programme is designed to give the professional without a company car the same advantages the company car driver takes for granted.

The programme is not dependent on the purchase or lease of a new vehicle and can be applied to any existing make or model, regardless of age or mileage.

Members have access to a 24 hour dedicated Fleet 21 hotline, along with accident management, breakdown cover, corporate terms on new vehicle supply, guidance on disposal, including valuation and consultancy on motoring issues. Drivers pay for the services on a menu basis. Fleet 21 is available on a 'menu' basis.

Emmerson, who previously managed the fleets of IBM UK and Black Horse Agencies in addition to numerous others through Emmerson Hill Associates, said: 'Our experience of managing company car schemes showed us clearly the self-employed and professional sector was a major growth area.'
