Specification levels have yet to be decided, but there will be a choice of three trim levels with all models receiving driver, passenger and side airbags, ABS brakes, self-levelling suspension and alloy wheels as standard.

Kia claims its has already received more than 2,500 registrations of interest in the vehicle from customers via its website.

Paul Williams, managing director of Kia Motors (UK), said: 'Press and public reaction to the vehicle before launch has been unprecedented. With its prestige looks, Sorento is set to change the face of Kia.'
