VOLKSWAGEN Commercial Vehicles has boosted the warranty arrangements for its van range.

Every new Caddy, Transporter and LT bought from a Volkswagen Van Centre in the UK will be offered with a three-year whole vehicle warranty - previously the warranty covered the engine and transmission.

All vans bought after November 1, 2001 will be upgraded to the new package, which comprises a two-year manufacturer warranty.

The new warranty covers all parts apart from wear-and-tear items such as brake pads and bulbs, and also includes three years' roadside assistance with a relief commercial vehicle should the fault put the van off the road.

Meanwhile, the Transporter range has been strengthened with the addition of the entry-level model, the 888 Special.

The new van replaces the old 800 Special. Priced at £10,495 ex-VAT, the model has a 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbodiesel unit offering 88bhp and standard equipment includes power steering, stereo radio/cassette player, immobiliser, heated rear screens and heated windscreen washer jets.
