MOTOR research body Thatcham is to reveal extensive research into the whiplash protection offered by some of Britain's most popular fleet cars.

The institute has rated 500 vehicles for their ability to protect passengers from whiplash injuries in an accident, the first assessment of its kind in the country.

Thatcham and international partners have been carrying out months of intensive research aimed at providing an at-a-glance guide to whiplash protection when drivers buy or hire a vehicle.

It will unveil its results a week on Monday during an event in London.
