LAFARGE Aggregates has outsourced its 400-strong car fleet in a move that will enable the company's management to focus on its core business.

The company is part of construction materials group Lafarge and operates from 200 sites in the UK. Its 400 cars, on contract hire, consist of Ford, Vauxhall and Peugeot models.

It has awarded the £6 million outsourcing contract to Zenith Vehicle Contracts. Lafarge Aggregates procurement manager, Richard Cerruti, said: 'Outsourcing the management of the fleet makes sound economic sense as we can focus time and resources on our core business.'

The deal increases Zenith's fleet size to 8,500 cars, and Zenith sales and marketing director Philip Jerome said: 'This contract provides a strong endorsement for our online technology as Lafarge placed particular emphasis on web-based reporting systems.'
