THE new Ford Fiesta van went on sale this month with an entry-level price of £8,000, ex-VAT.

Targeting fleets which don't require large payloads, the Fiesta van comes with a 1.3-litre petrol or 1.4-litre TDCi diesel engine. Ford claims a combined fuel economy figure of 65.7mpg on the diesel version.

Gary Whittam, director of commercial vehicles at Ford of Britain, said: 'Fiesta van is the final piece in the jigsaw that is Ford's commercial vehicle range. Businesses who need to deliver or carry smaller loads and fleets that need a cost-effective get-around-town vehicle, will find Fiesta Van an excellent choice.'

The 1.4 TDCi diesel features a second-generation common-rail fuel injection and costs £350 more than the petrol version. Fleets wanting to covert to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) can opt for the 1.3-litre Duratec petrol engine.
