LEX Vehicle Leasing is to sell all of its ex-fleet vehicles through auction in a partnership with British Car Auctions lasting three years.

The move will see Lex dispose of 25,000 vehicles a year using BCA, under the banner of Lex Go Direct. BCA will handle all paperwork and oversee the de-hire process and pre-sale appraisal of the vehicles which will include prestige models, saloons, hatchbacks and MPVs. The auction house will also take care of marketing the vehicles. The new strategy will see all Lex Vehicle Leasing cars de-fleeted direct into BCA Blackbushe in the south, Belle Vue Manchester in the north and BCA Glasgow in Scotland.

Cars on offer will range from one to three years old. The majority will be supplied with full maintenance histories. In the case of some vehicles, the balance of the manufacturer's warranty will apply. All V5s will be present.

BCA already handles all Lex Vehicle Leasing de-fleet stock from the company's fleet in the south in a programme of specially-branded sales at BCA Blackbushe every Monday and Wednesday.

John Taylor, general manager at Lex, said: 'Lex Vehicle Leasing has adopted this innovative auction-only policy following an extensive period of research, piloting, market evaluation and like-for-like comparisons. In partnership with BCA, we have developed a remarketing strategy that not only delivers the best results in the shortest time, but is also the most cost-effective.'

Sales will take place at BCA's Belle Vue auction house every Tuesday and Friday and then from April 25 at BCA's Glasgow depot.
