A GOVERNMENT campaign which highlights the dangers of driving while under the influence of drugs, both recreational and prescription, has been given the backing of Green Flag, the motoring assistance provider.

A spokesman for Green Flag, said: 'Our research reveals the extent of the growing problem of drugs and driving but also highlights the fact that it is not only illegal drugs that can impair ability.'

Research conducted by Green Flag in association with the road safety charity Brake has shown that drivers aged 18-25 are at most risk.

As a result of the findings, Green Flag has commissioned Brake to carry out research into drivers' attitudes to road safety. The findings will be published as part of National Road Safety Week, in September.
