ACCIDENT management provider Albany RTA Group has ordered a fleet of Mercedes-Benz Sprinters to deliver replacement vehicles for its customers.

The new fleet, a batch of 20 Sprinter LWB 311 chassis cabs, have Beavertail conversions, which are shaped ramps to allow vehicles to be loaded and unloaded on to the vehicles.

The deal adds to the group's current 1,400-strong fleet and will be used by Albany Vehicle Rentals, a subsidiary of the group.

Fleet Alliance is supplying the new vehicles on a four-year/180,000 mile contract hire agreement, with KFS Specialist Vehicles completing the conversions.

Doug Bussey, fleet manager at Albany Vehicle Rentals, said: 'We felt that it was more cost-effective and safer to deliver replacement vehicles directly to our customers in customised transporters, and the Mercedes Sprinters have replaced another model we had on our fleet.

'We opted for Fleet Alliance to fund the vehicles after a tender process as it was very competitive in price and we were impressed by the levels of service offered.'

The Sprinters are able to carry one vehicle at a time and Albany predicts the vans will deliver more than 6,000 new vehicles during the next year.
