EASTERN Europe was the target for British Car Auctions' latest pan-European sale held in Austria.

The auction group saw bidders from countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia and Slovakia attend the sale, alongside western European countries including Germany and Spain.

More than 340 vehicles were on sale during the day and more than 200 buyers registered for the sale, with stock from LeasePlan, ING Car Lease and ALD Automotive proving popular.

BCA ran a major European operation to ensure vendors from the six countries delivering the vehicles arrived on time and buyers from the 14 countries had vehicles delivered correctly.

A pre-sale marketing campaign to encourage bidders from eastern Europe was also completed with more than 8,000 dealers in eastern and central Europe notified about the event.

Lars-Erik Aaroy, European sales director at BCA, said: 'This was the first auction to deliberately target the vehicle export markets of central and eastern Europe.

There is undoubtedly a huge demand for a wide range of product in these marketplaces and BCA is ideally positioned with the infrastructure and expertise to build on this highly successful first event.'
