NEW car sales across Europe have increased above most industry expert forecasts, latest figures show. For the month of June, the increase was 5.6% above the same period last year, at more than 1.4 million units. The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), which produces the figures, said the increase was partly due to a higher number of working days in all of the countries apart from the UK. For the year to date, sales increased across Europe as a whole by 3.5%, to reach 8,284,850 units. An ACEA spokesman said the increase was 'slightly above most forecasts'.
