FLEETS are being urged to respond to a Government consultation paper which would give local authorities the power to determine speed restrictions.

The consultation document outlines guidance for implementing restrictions and all comments received will be assessed by a Department for Transport (DfT) minister.

A spokesman at the DfT, said: ‘The regulations aim to formalise the procedures for designating, varying and revoking Quiet Lanes and Home Zones, including the provision for a substantial level of public involvement.’ Visit www.dft.gov.uk for details.
