FORD has launched a new scheme offering driver training to retail customers buying from its range of vans.

Together with training firm Drive & Survive, the manufacturer hopes to change the tarnished image of White Van Man.

Anyone buying a Transit, Ranger or Fiesta van will be offered a day’s training culminating in drivers taking the IAM Advanced Driving test, with Ford paying for both the training and the test. If drivers pass, it will lead to reduced insurance costs with Norwich Union.

Ford is hoping that other manufacturers will support the safety initiative and help change the image of van drivers.
