STAFF at the international fast food chain McDonald’s are backing company cars over cash allowances.

The group has seen a three-fold increase in orders for company cars over the past 12 months. More than half of the firm’s 1,200 drivers opted for cash allowances when McDonalds introduced a scheme five years ago but this number is now reducing.

Jeremy Sothcott, fleet and travel manager at McDonald’s, said: ‘A year ago, we typically had 10 cars on order at any time – now it is nearer 35. Drivers are becoming more aware of the value of the car option.’
