Lexus IS

LEXUS’S answer to the Audi A4 and BMW 3-series arrives next month, bringing with it sharp styling and a new 2.5-litre V6 engine offering 204bhp. Lexus promises the IS250 will offer class-leading levels of refinement. As you would expect, there’s plenty of standard equipment and build quality is flawless. Prices start at £22,400 for the IS250 and £22,200 for the diesel-engined IS220d which arrives in January.

Honda Civic

HONDA isn’t messing about with the look of the new Civic. For years the model has been a worthy but unexciting car with an older audience, but that’s all about to change. Honda wants younger buyers for this new car, and the exterior styling is matched by a futuristic interior. Two petrol engines will be available in 1.4 and 1.8-litre guises, while the Accord’s refined 2.2-litre diesel will also be offered.
