COMPANY information usually found in annual reports is now available online, allowing employees to uncover data such as directors’ pay, pensions, profits and losses.

The site, at www.worksmart.org.uk, is part of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and by clicking on ‘your company’ employees can see detailed information on more than 7,000 UK firms.

Employees can use the site to compare their own pay with company directors. Users can enter their salary five years ago and the site calculates how much their pay would be if earnings had increased at the same rate as their top bosses. Staff can also calculate their own pay compared to others in the same job with a different company.

Kay Carberry, assistant general secretary at the TUC, said: ‘Employees now have the freedom to get important information about their company rather than digging through company reports. The company finder also enables job seekers to check out a firm before interviews or accepting a post.’
