A MOTORCYCLE leasing company has designed a bike that will carry a ladder for maintenance work.

Motorcycle Management is leasing the bike to Pullman Fleet Services, which is using it to provide instant response repairs for mobile refrigeration units.

The refrigeration company, Carrier Transicold, was keen to use motorbikes but dismissed the idea because technicians could not reach refrigeration units mounted at the front of trailers.

The Honda ST1300 Pan European bike features a rack on which a 3.8-metre collapsible ladder can be mounted at the back.

Motorcycle Management director Tony Draycott said: ‘There is no reason why other manufacturers’ platforms could not be selected on the basis of its suitability to carry large objects.’
