Beetle replacement revealed in Tokyo

Volkswagen has revealed the possible successor to its modern Beetle range at the Tokyo Motor Show.

The Space Up! takes its inspiration from the Up! concept vehicle which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month.

The new concept has four individual seats, three of which can be folded or removed to allow up to 1,005 litres of luggage space. The wheelbase has been extended to 2,560mm to improve interior space in comparison to the original Up!.

VW is working on a production versions of the Up! vehicle now and hopes to have a road-going version ready before 2010.
