HOT on the heels of the new Volvo V70 estate comes its more rugged stablemate – the XC70.

With a raised ride height, extra body cladding and four-wheel drive, the XC70 falls between the V70 and XC90 ranges.

Due to go on sale in the UK in September, it will be powered by a choice of two familiar Volvo engines – the 185bhp D5 turbodiesel and a 240bhp 3.2-litre straight-six petrol engine. Prices will be announced in June and the car will be officially unveiled at this week’s Geneva motor show.
