Hyundai has enjoyed huge success with its well-priced Coupe model, and an all-new version is just around the corner.

This development mule was spotted hot-weather testing in California and is due to go on sale next year.

As well as a more attractive design – successive facelifts have somewhat diluted the model’s appeal – the Coupe will switch from front to rear-wheel drive in a bid to improve the driving experience.

Expect developments of the 2.0 and 2.7-litre V6 petrol units to go under the bonnet. As a result of switching to rear-wheel drive, the price is likely to rise above the £20,000 mark for the V6 version.
