Volkswagen has released the first images of the next Golf.

The Mark VI Golf continues the design direction seen with the Scirocco and comes with a range of new petrol and diesel engines, including a 2.0-litre TDI with 108bhp and emitting
119g/km of CO2.

Adaptive Chassis Control, as seen on the Passat CC and the Scirocco, will also be available, allowing comfort, sport or normal settings to be selected for the suspension, steering and accelerator response.

The new car will go on sale in January.
