Two accident management companies have announced a move into risk management offering fleets services that use accident data to identify and train high-risk company drivers.
Elite Incident Management will launch Elite Risk Management (ERM) next week, while RVM Fleet Services has just launched Full Circle, which includes an interactive web portal that brings together driver safety, accident and training records online.
Fleet managers can access driver records online to view results of driver training, accident management, licence checks and driver assessments.
Paul Rose, managing director of RVM, which operates an in-house driver training service, said Full Circle allows managers to “identify high risks and training needs more easily and take remedial action more quickly, which in turn will give the training greater impact”.
ERM will also launch a web-based portal.
Both companies will target fleets that have grey drivers – those that use their own vehicles on business – as well as company vehicle drivers.
Elite, which provides accident management services to 20 fleets, expects to sign its first fleet customer to ERM in time for the official launch on April 1.
“This product will be especially useful for fleet managers drawn from HR or finance roles – we can assist them to comply with their legal requirements,” Philip da Silva, Elite chief executive, explained.
The target market is fleets with 500-1,000 vehicles and those with large numbers of grey vehicles.
The software can identify running costs, fuel management, drivers’ accident history, maintenance and journey routing and identify those drivers that are at higher risk of having accidents or have an accident history.
It also links into HR data in other areas of the business.
Both companies offer to formulate an action plan, which could include training and changes in policy.
Both will also manage the full process.
The new services should help fleets recover more uninsured losses.
“We expect to be able to save on average 40% off a fleet’s credit hire bill,” said da Silva.
On uninsured losess, he added: “Fleets should get their money back within 10 weeks of the accident and for every 100 vehicles in the fleet they should get back £10,000-15,000 on average.
"Some are getting nothing back.”
To promote Full Circle RVM is offering fleet operators a free fleet safety evaluation.
