British motorists are a nation of distracted drivers, with 77% admitting to taking their eyes off the road to change stations on the radio or change a CD, according to research from moneysupermarket.com.
The survey also discovered that the next two top distractions for drivers were either drinking or eating while behind the wheel - both polled 52%.
Andy Leadbetter, managing director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said: “Any lapse in concentration, even for a second to change radio stations or take a bite from a sandwich while driving, could have severe or even fatal consequences.”
