Renault is considering launching a range topping saloon model in the UK after a new model made its debut in Western Europe at the Paris Motor Show.

The Latitude made its European debut several weeks ago at the Moscow Motor Show, but diesel versions were shown for the first time in Paris.

Similar in size to a Ford Mondeo saloon, the Latitude will be available with a choice of four-cylinder and six-cylinder diesels, as well as petrol engines.

Renault UK is still undecided on whether to introduce the model, which would become the range flagship, but perhaps would steal sales from the Laguna.

However, Renault chief executive Carlos Ghosn said both the Laguna and Latitude complemented each other in the range.
