Citroën has made on-board wireless internet connectivity available in its new C3, C3 Picasso, C4, C4 Picasso, C5, C6 and DS3 models.

Available as an option, the new WiFi On Board system enables multiple devices to connect to the internet whilst on the move, or when the vehicle is stationary.

An installed WiFi box, which houses a 3G or 3G+ SIM card - that can be purchased from any mobile internet provider - creates a wireless network within the vehicle allowing multiple WiFi devices such as laptops, smart phones and portable games consoles to simultaneously check e-mails, play games, tweet and surf the internet.

The system makes it possible for passengers to have internet access during journeys.

Fleet and business drivers can also access the internet when the car is parked.

To avoid expensive data costs when travelling abroad, the system is installed with roaming disabled as the default setting.

The system costs £545, including installation and VAT at 17.5% (excludes the cost of the 3G/3G+ SIM card and internet access charges).

It will be available on other car and LCV models before the end of 2010.
