Avis UK has announced the strengthening of its customer services proposition with the appointment of Anthony Ainsworth as commercial director. Ainsworth is responsible for all customer-facing revenue generation including the B2B, consumer and intermediary business, as well as post-rental customer care.

The newly created role is the latest in a long-line of measures by Avis to deliver the ‘Gold Standard’ experience for every customer. Over seeing a team of 120, including over 100 customer focused employees, Anthony will work to align the ‘We Try Harder’ principle across the business.

Ainsworth, who was previously Avis’ Sales Director, will build on the ongoing success of the B2B business, which has experienced double digit growth over the last two years, and drive similar improvements in customer experience throughout Avis’ consumer business.

2011 will see the continued roll out of new retail locations across the UK and further progress of the home delivery product. Ainsworth will also continue to invest heavily in the winning B2B offering, with the expansion of the regional and SME sales teams, as the business looks to maintain double digit growth.

Commenting on his appointment, Ainsworth said: “The creation of a new customer focussed team is a reflection of Avis’ ongoing commitment to our customers.

“We are bringing together a host of dedicated employees to ensure the business is aligned and working towards the same goal; ultimately making our customer’s experience the best it can be.”

Kevin Bradshaw, managing director of Avis UK, commented: “We are delighted Anthony will be heading up this new team. Providing the very best customer service possible is a priority to us and we’re confident having someone with such a wealth of experience will allow us to raise the bar throughout our business and the car rental market.”
