The Vauxhall Ampera is the latest model to be added to Hitachi Capital’s electric vehicle fleet, as part of its on-going support and commitment to EV technology.

Hitachi Capital plans to use the vehicle as a pool car from its sites in Trowbridge, Newbury and Leicester. It will also be used as a trial for customer use, as more of Hitachi Capital’s customers have shown a keen interest in EVs and alternative fuels.

“There is a strong demand from both customers and staff for the Vauxhall brand so the brand new Ampera seemed like a wise purchase. Range anxiety is no longer an issue because of its petrol engine and with 27 grams of CO2 it is has extremely low carbon emissions. At Hitachi Capital we are always looking to lower our carbon emissions and increase our knowledge of EVs and the Ampera is helping us to accomplish this. This new purchase will be a helpful learning curve for the business, its employees and for our customers further expanding our knowledge and ownership of electric vehicles in the market place,” says Chris Shore, pricing manager at Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions.

“We are thrilled to be getting the Vauxhall Ampera on the road – and are more than happy that Hitachi Capital has chosen it to be included in its range of EVs. The Ampera offers the best of both worlds, with 50 miles of carbon-free emissions coupled with the ability to switch to a low-emission petrol engine that extends it range for a further 310 miles,” says Cliff White, sales manager at Vauxhall. “Vauxhall has built a solid relationship with Hitachi Capital over many years, and it is a relationship that we hope continues to flourish moving into the future.”

The Vauxhall Ampera will arrive at Hitachi Capital’s offices in late May, early June.
