Free driver licence checks are on offer to fleets that buy Jaama’s Key2 Vehicle Management software before August 31, 2012.

Employers will be able to benefit from Jaama giving away 50 free driver licence verification checks with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency

Best practice advice from the Health and Safety Executive suggests driver licence checks should be a vital component of every company’s occupational road risk management policy.

That was further underlined when in November 2010 the DVLA tightened the rules in relation to drivers who take too long surrendering their licences for penalty points to be added.

Historically, the law allowed a ‘concessionary period’ of 12 months for drivers to surrender their current valid licence for the endorsement to be added during which individuals may continue to drive. However, that period was cut to 28 days after which the licence is revoked and the entitlement to drive is removed.

Martin Evans, Jaama’s sales and operations director, said: “Driver licence checking should be a vital component of every company’s occupational road risk management policy. Current DVLA rules mean that the only option to ensure compliance is to undertake driving licence checks every four weeks.

He added: “Our driver licence checking service means that not only is the administrative burden completely removed from customers, but they will have all information on drivers and their vehicles held in one central database, building a combined intelligent profile and highlighting exceptions.

“We want to help employers across the public, private and voluntary sectors meet their duty of care responsibilities, which is why we have launched the special offer for a limited period. Organisations that take advantage of our offer will benefit from industry-leading technology and will have an audit trail of employee driving licence verification.”
