Pendragon was named ‘Retailer of the Year’ and ‘Service and Parts Team of the Year’ at the Mercedes-Benz 2012 ‘Retailer of the Year’ awards in Birmingham.

Mercedes-Benz operates a regional retail model - known as market areas. These market areas consist of several sites operated by a partner company.

The retailers were measured on a number of performance indicators, including sales performance and customer satisfaction levels as well as the commitment they showed to the brand and the support they provide to Mercedes-Benz UK.

Retailers had to excel in every way.

The coveted accolade of both Mercedes-Benz ‘Retailer of the Year’ and ‘Service and Parts Team of the Year’ were awarded to the market area covering Glasgow - operated by franchise partner Pendragon PLC.

Jim Robertson, market area director at Pendragon, said: “We are delighted to have been named not only ‘Retailer of the Year’, but also ‘Parts and Service Team of the Year’.  It has been a real team effort with a focus on our customers and the service we offer them.  This is a great boost for the team at the start of what is going to be another busy year with more new products and we look forward to serving our customers, both old and new.”

‘Smart Retailer of the Year’ was awarded to Sytner West who operates retailers in the West Country using the same performance indicators as for Mercedes-Benz ‘Retailer of the Year’.

Marcus Breitschwerdt, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz UK, added: “2012 was a record-breaking year for Mercedes-Benz in the UK and smart sales increased as well.  We couldn't have done it without the support, commitment and dedication of each and every colleague working with our retailer partners around the country.  We have celebrated our success and now we are setting our sights firmly on 2013.”

Listers, which operates Mercedes-Benz retailers in the North East of England, took the award for ‘Sales Team of the Year’, and the ‘Customer Service Team of the Year’ was awarded to the market area that covers retailers based in and around Wolverhampton and Stoke.

Richard Griffiths of Mercedes-Benz Swansea was awarded ‘Technical Apprentice of the Year’ while Liam Hudson of Mercedes-Benz of Sheffield was ‘Parts Apprentice of the Year’.  Both were praised for their positive attitude and success in their training and are showing great potential to develop with Mercedes-Benz.
