OBD Experts strikes deal with TomTom

British software firm OBD Experts has announced its software is being used in a new product from navigation technology giant TomTom.

OBD Experts is a company dedicated to on-board diagnostics and has been developing vehicle diagnostic software for Ford, GM, VW, Volvo, Jaguar and other vehicle manufacturers for more than two decades.

It expects the deal with TomTom to increase its profile and to encourage more firms to examine the possibility of licensing OBD II software rather than using expensive solutions or pre-programmed chips.

Specific information about TomTom's new product will be released in 2013.
