The release of the latest fuel monitoring report suite by telematics company Airmax will increase a fleet operator’s ability to closely monitor fuel usage and costs across their fleets.

With an accuracy of 99%, the new report suite has been in development for three years with over 1,000,000 corroborating vehicle miles and is the latest module to be added to the existing Airmax Premium Plus management system now in operation with service fleets, lease fleets and blue light organisations across the UK.

Significant among the new reports is the ability to view fuel used against cost for any specified period across fleet, sub fleet and individual vehicle and relate the detailed MPG to manufacturers MPG with ‘better/worse’ displayed in quick view Red/Green. Information can also be viewed as trends in both actual fuel burn and fuel cost together with environmental impact as CO2 emissions. CO2 output is also viewable as a percentage increase/decrease against previous months and is acceptable as an accredited input to environmental audits.

The report suite details individual journeys against distance/duration/average speed/fuel used and cost and is already proving beneficial in allowing fleet managers to identify ‘heavy footed’ drivers as the data also provides ‘league tables’ of fleet drivers against fuel used. Data comparing drivers to their own average performance in previous months is also presented on a red/green basis together with the difference shown as a percentage.

One ground breaking aspect, developed in conjunction with existing Airmax fleets is the micro measurement of fuel added, correlated against both tank level and CANbus dashboard data which also details off the exact refuel event location (together with cost) and the ability to access it visually on Street View. This development is seen as a crucial step in eradicating fuel card misuse within the fleet sector.
