Unprecedented Christmas demand has led to parcel delivery service APC Overnight setting a new company record – it processed 166,092 parcels in 24 hours on Monday, December 15.

Millions of parcels have made their way through APC Overnight’s national sortation centre in Cannock, Staffordshire, since the start of the Christmas season.

To cope with the anticipated increased demand, APC Overnight has made a series of strategic decisions during 2014, including a £6 million investment at its national sortation centre.

This included the installation of two new sky sorters and its biggest trunking investment to date, adding 45 new moving double-deck, curtain-sided trailers to its fleet.

Karl Brown, chief executive of APC Overnight, said: “We’re so pleased to have had such a successful day in the lead up to Christmas and it’s fantastic to be increasing on our capabilities year-on-year.”
