LeasePlan has launched a new initiative designed to encourage clients to consider leasing pure electric vehicles (PEVs).

As part of its ‘Take a Leaf Out of Our Book’ initiative, LeasePlan will make a number of Nissan Leafs available to clients for a risk-free three month trial period, from 1 June 2014.

The initiative is designed to showcase the benefits of PEVs to clients who may not have previously considered leasing this type of vehicle. To help better understand their effectiveness, drivers will be encouraged to provide detailed feedback on performance throughout the trial period.

The launch comes as LeasePlan reaches the milestone of 150 pure electric vehicles (PEVs) on fleet. The vehicles have been adopted by a wide range of LeasePlan clients, including local authorities in Scotland and utility companies.

Support for EVs and other ‘green’ vehicles appears to be building once more, with the Government’s recent announcement of a £500 million funding allocation to support the use and development of ultra low emission vehicles in the UK between 2015 and 2020.

Ian Marson, strategy director at LeasePlan, said: “LeasePlan has long championed electric vehicles, and we’ve been leading the charge in promoting their adoption across our client fleets. This initiative will allow us to show exactly why we believe these vehicles can be such a great addition to a fleet, and hopefully we’ll dispel some electric vehicle myths along the way.

“Greener fleets are the future and the move to ultra low emission vehicles has the potential to have huge environmental and financial benefits for the user, and indeed the wider population.”
