ULEV registration figures for the year-to-date (5,710 vehicles) have already exceeded the 2013 year-end total (3,584 vehicles) by 59%, according to Go Ultra Low.

So far in 2014, the number of electric vehicles registered is more than double the full year performance of 2012 (2,254 vehicles) by 153%. It is expected that 2014 registrations will also exceed the combined 2012 and 2013 totals (5,838 vehicles) by the end of September.

This steady increase amongst consumer adoption is also apparent in the government’s Plug-In Grant initiative, which provides £5,000 off the price of a qualifying ultra low emission car and £8,000 off of an ultra low emission van. More than 5,678 car grants have been redeemed through August 2014, an increase of 58% on 2013, and 153% on 2012, respectively.
