A Fiat 500 in Essex has been recovered with the help of Tracker and a police helicopter.

On reporting the vehicle stolen by the owner, the Tracker unit was activated. A police helicopter picked up the signal on its way back to base from another job, leading officers on the ground straight to the stolen vehicle.

The crew of NPAS Boreham played an instrumental role in directing their colleagues on the ground to a lock-up containing the Fiat 500 and one other stolen vehicle. As a result, one person was subsequently arrested in conncection with the theft.

Adrian Davenport, Police liaison officer for Tracker said: “We've seen a significant increase in the number of Fiat 500s stolen in London and the Home Counties.  It appears these models are becoming quite desirable and are probably being stolen to order or shipped abroad. This case clearly demonstrates that car owners are taking security seriously and are installing our tracking units to protect their pride and joy."
