Fleets were given a tax masterclass at this year’s Fleet & Mobility Live by Nigel Morris, employment tax director at MHA MacIntyre Hudson, and Harvey Perkins, co-founder HRUX.

Against a backdrop of a Government dealing with a dwindling tax take due to the switch from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs), the pair explained how a change in vehicle taxation is inevitable.

The Government is understood to be considering road pricing as a potential alternative, with vehicles charged per mile driven. However, when fleets were asked about the potential change to vehicle taxation earlier this year, opinion was divided.

Morris and Perkins discussed the potential for a new system of road taxes as well as looking at how fleets today can ensure they are making the most of the incentives available.

The support available through super deduction tax breaks was highlighted, as well as savings to be made through plug-in vehicle incentives, VAT and reimbursements.
