DCML’s Dealer Car Manager benefit-in-kind (BIK) app makes the calculation of tax quicker, more accurate and less daunting for fleets, according to Sytner Bradford Audi.

The Audi dealership has seen an increase in efficiency after using DCML’s BIK software for more than eight months across its fleet of 40 vehicles.

As well as its time-saving capabilities, the module helps Bradford Audi experience reduced risk, because individuals took ownership of their mileage, as opposed to the management team alone.

The intelligent tool documents the movements of drivers, recording their private and business journeys while calculating any BIK incurred and automatically updating the Dealer Car Manager system.

The Dealer Car Manager BIK module enables businesses to accurately report mileage, fuel costs and vehicle users.

The available app can be used to record journeys using GPS, with the driver selecting whether they are private or business trips.

At any time, a business is then able to supply HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) with true, honest and verifiable BIK figures.

HMRC implemented significantly more stringent and regular business checks in 2012, with a number of dealerships falling foul of the standards required.

Sean Endeacott, head of business at Bradford Audi, said: “It is simple, it is documented and we have a history that is easily accessible – and provable – for internal and any external audits, so it takes the worry out of this aspect of our business.

“It protects the driver and the centre (as an employer) in terms of HMRC and takes the guesswork out of who was in what car at what time, and removes any doubt in relation to speeding fines, bus lane incidents, parking fines or RTAs.

“Implementing any new system can seem difficult at first; however this was simple to set up and explain to our users.

“Six months on and this system is now just second nature to everyone. It’s a great bit of kit.”

DCML supports more than 800 franchised dealers.
