Licence Bureau has achieved a licence-checking milestone, with 4 million licences checked, as it continues to raise awareness of driver and vehicle compliance issues.

The company was founded in 2003, with its services used by 23% of the FSTE 100 companies and thousands of smaller companies eager to manage their work-related road safety risks and ensure professional and compliant fleet operations.

Steve Pinchen, sales director at Licence Bureau, said, “It is great to see the compliance message continue to reach businesses across the UK and, more importantly, people wake-up to the necessity of such service provisions.

“Our aim is to make companies both safe and compliant. We treat quality seriously, being ISO 9001 compliant, and are proud to have reached this four millionth driver licence check milestone.

“Licence checking is now only part of our all-encompassing compliance journey which provides companies with an ongoing automated process where they can set their own rules and deal with exceptions.”

Its driver licence checking service enables businesses to perform checks against current DVLA and DVANI records.

Companies can check a driver's status and entitlement to drive; online licence credentials; validity dates; current endorsements and points; vehicle categories covered; and disqualifications.

The service forms the foundations of Licence Bureau’s wider proposition designed to support businesses across all areas of road safety and compliance – a major challenge of which is currently grey fleet and one which Licence Bureau claims has reached ‘epidemic’ proportions.

Pinchen continued: “We know grey fleet management is a huge challenge right now for businesses of all sizes. From experience, we know most businesses do not really know for sure who drives on behalf of the company.

“If a business allows any employee to drive a business vehicle or use their own vehicle for work related journeys, the business has an obligation to ensure that the driver and vehicle is legal and safe to drive – and the starting point for that is a driver licence check.

“This is one of the many day-to-day challenges we are designed to help businesses overcome.”

Licence Bureau will showcase its Speed Bingo speed awareness quiz at Fleet Live 2019 next month.
