Scotland’s Western Commercial has been named Mercedes-Benz Vans retailer of the year at the manufacturer's annual Van Stars event.

Judges said the achievement reflects the strong teamworking ethos evident in all areas of the dealer’s operation, which translates into exceptionally high levels of performance.

Steve Bridge, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Vans UK, said: “Consistency is the key here. This is not a ‘one hit wonder’ award. It’s about delivering that Van Stars experience to our customers time after time.

“ winner has excelled in all disciplines. On sales, its 2017 tally exceeded 3,000 units and clearly showed it does not differentiate between new and used product.

"On aftersales, it not only smashed target after target, but it has also invested in programmes and infrastructure that will help to future-proof its business, through the enhanced focus on efficiency and effectiveness that will benefit it and its customers.”

Western Commercial employs 255 colleagues who work from its headquarters in Broxburn, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, and other branches in Glasgow, Bellshill and Dundee.

The company’s Retailer of the Year award follows its achievement in winning the Most Improved Retailer prize at the corresponding event 12 months ago.

Other awards presented at the Mercedes-Benz Van Stars event included:

  • Mertrux Truck & Van, winner of the Keeping Businesses Moving award
  • Ciceley Commercials, Carlisle, the DPD Retailer of the Year
  • Marshall Truck & Van, Most Improved Retailer of the Year
  • Cory James, Mertrux Truck & Van, who received the Managing Director’s Award for Customer Dedication.
