Furniture retailer DFS has introduced Microlise’s telematics solution across more than 360 delivery vehicles.

The telematics devices, implemented following a sucessful trial earlier this year, will deliver reports to help reduce fuel and maintenance costs, while improving overall safety of the transport operation.

DFS’ group technology director Russell Harte said: “We ran a successful Microlise Fleet Performance trial earlier this year and are confident we will quickly make a return on investment by delivering greater efficiency.

"Fundamentally this helps us to provide the very best value and service for our customers – an objective which is always front and centre in our decision-making process.”

DFS has also deployed the Microlise Safety Module which will enable speed, direction, accelerator position, braking, ABS status, gears, cruise control and clutch to be recorded, giving an overview in the seconds before and after an incident.

“We are nearly six years in on our journey of digital transformation. Our aim is to have all of our data in the correct format so that we can use it. In the transport sector, Microlise is pioneering this same approach and therefore the link-up between our two companies makes sense,” said Harte.

Microlise’s chief executive Nadeem Raza said: “Our customers help us to drive our product forward and innovate. With every deployment we gather greater expertise and a better understanding of the environment our customers operate in. DFS has a long and proud history in the UK, helping to bring comfort to the lives of millions. We are happy to be in a position to help DFS to achieve its objectives.”
