Speedy Freight has unveiled its new branch, which will cover South Wales and its major cities, Cardiff, Newport and Swansea.

The UK provider of urgent or sensitive transport will open its new branch on September 2, creating up to 40 jobs for locals.

Its unveiling increases the near 60 franchised depots it has open across the UK.

Speedy Freight provides a courier service that allows urgent, or sensitive freight to be collected within an hour of booking. This can then be delivered across the UK.

Ceryn Hopkins, general manager at Speedy Freight, said: “I’m excited to join the Speedy Freight business and provide a tailor-made, responsive same-day courier service for local businesses in South Wales.

“We are offering a cost-effective service for customers who need things doing fast. South Wales is a manufacturing hot spot and our services come into their own when unexpected issues arise.

“From delivering essential building materials to just-in-time parts to keep production lines running, we can put a plan in place in minutes to get ingredients and parts where they need to be.

“To service local businesses, we are now recruiting up to 40 owner drivers – mostly of vans, to our preferred driver group."

Hopkins continued: “Perfectly placed and well connected with the M4 corridor and M5, Speedy Freight in South Wales is ready to get on the road for planned and emergency same day courier services."

Speedy Freight also recently expanded its transport service in York. The new branch created around 20 jobs and is under the management of Simon Chorlton, the owner of the Hull and Doncaster franchises.

The expansion also follows its openings in Leicester and Derby earlier this year.
