Nissan has unveiled the new Qashqai crossover, with autonomous driving technology and CO2 emissions of 99g/km.

The upgrades have been focussed on a contemporary new exterior design, higher levels of interior quality and improved driving performance.

A new ProPILOT autonomous drive capability will control the steering, acceleration and braking in a single lane on highways, providing a more confident drive, plus greater freedom during heavy traffic congestion or high-speed cruising.

The range-topping Tekna+ grade includes new seats trimmed in high-quality soft nappa leather, with luxurious 3D quilting on the centre panels.

Also new is a D-shaped multi-function steering wheel with premium satin-chrome inserts. It features a new four-way controller for the combimeter display, for more intuitive use and less ‘eyes off the road’ time.

The NissanConnect infotainment system, complete with DAB digital radio and satellite navigation, now features a smart new user interface.

For music fans a Bose seven-speaker premium sound system will also be available. For customers it represents a more complete audio experience, plus the opportunity to personalise in-car listening.

The exterior facelift includes a completely revised front end, including the latest Nissan ‘V-motion’ grille plus headlamps with a new version of the ‘boomerang’ Daytime Running Light signature.

At the rear, the car’s instantly recognisable ‘boomerang’ light motif is extended across the whole lamp, and now includes a contemporary 3D lens effect to enhance the signature shape.

Added to the Qashqai’s colour palette to boost its premium credentials are two vibrant new finishes. These include Vivid Blue, on the vehicle unveiled during Nissan’s Geneva press conference, and Chestnut Bronze.

A number of under-the-skin improvements to the suspension, damping and steering systems have resulted in a more refined on-the-road experience.

Despite the enhancements, when fitted with the 1.5-litre 110PS diesel engine, the Qashqai delivers CO2 emissions of 99g/km.

Look a bit 'soft' to me needs to be chunkier and less hatchback like to my eyes. They still need to look at powertrains too 99g/km from a 110bhp diesel is still disappointing in this age. Kia's same sized Niro hybrid system manages only 88g/km from a petrol engine with total output of 139bhp.
