The Baglan School of Motoring in Port Talbot is the first in the UK to offer driving lessons in the new Suzuki Ignis.

Alison and Kevin Crompton, who run the tuition business in South Wales, collected two dual-controlled flame orange-coloured compact crossovers from the J&J Motors Suzuki dealership in Bridgend, bringing the total number of Suzuki cars that they have owned since 2011 to eight.

The husband and wife team, who have a combined experience of over 70 years of teaching students, chose the five-door Ignis SZ-T as a replacement for their existing models. Its 1.2-litre Dualjet engine offers fuel economy of more than 61 mpg and CO2 emissions of 104g/km.

This was a key factor in their decision-making as they have up to 150 students on their books each year and cover around 45,000 miles every 12 months.

Kevin Crompton said: “We have always been great fans of Suzuki’s small cars, and IGNIS is no different. This is the perfect model to learn in, as it’s straightforward to park, and simple to manoeuvre through narrow city streets or out on the open road.

"Plus, with the added advantages of the car being very economical, and comfortable to sit in for hours on end, it ticked all the boxes.”
